1993 The Production Division is etablished, engaging in the production,promotion and distribution of new arabic artists especially from Lebabnon. This was the turning point of MBI as a record label. MUSICBOX INTERNATIONAL produces their first release on the independent MUSICBOX INTERNATIONAL (MBI) label of the artist called Wael Kafoury and album being "Shfohhawa Asaro Yaqolow". This sold in excess of over 300,000 copies on the first pressing itself. Both an office and a retail outlet is opened in Beirut, Lebanon. 1994 MBI diversifies into the international department and set sup a licensing division for international repertoire. The first acts to be licensed for the territory of the entire Middle East is "bad Boys Blue" and the album is "To Blue Horizons". Subsequently, the first promotional concert in Dubai(June) was held with more planning through out the Middle East. MUSICBOX INTERNATIONAL establishes a video department to start it's operation in 1995 after the copyright law was which was implemented from 1st of September 1994. 1995 By now MBI has gained recognition for their Arabic repertoire and secure sole position as their record label with the strongest Arabic repertoire catalogue in the Middle East and hence automatically the world's. Each artist album released by MBI becomes a mega-seller. On the International repertoire front, MBI enter into a lot many licensing agreements with some major record companies in Europe. As a result MBI sets up and in-house state -of-art mastering suite. This facilitated the advent of the Post-production Department in Dubai. All kinds of post-production work were being done for the Arabic department. With regards to the International Department, mega-mixes were produced and as a result the hits selling "Music Box Power Mix" series originated. 1996 This year saw the expansion of the video department with other multi-media products like DVD, LD ,VCD, MBI was by now cine label having licensing deals with some movie companies in the U.S.A. On the audio front, MBI continues to target release of MBI label products on a weekly basis for both the Arabic and International repertoire products. Over the months, MBI takes a strong grip in the market share for MBI label titles to about 29%- international repertoire and 75%- Arabic repertoire products. 1997 MBI expands the number of retail outlets to 5 in the U.A.E. with the inclusion of "Roly Viedo" In Abu Dhabi. A music cassette manufacturing plant is set up in Lebanon. With a large capacity production, MBI came to the forefront as top music cassette replicator in the Middle East as well. 1998 MBI opens up branches in Saudi Arabia(Jeddah) and U.S.A. (Dallas, Texas) Now all the departments in all of MBI branches around the world are smooth sailing with profits jumping up by 38% over the previous year. this gives MBI an incentive to set up a video editing and mastering suite in Dubai. It is therefore transformed into and audio-video editing and mastering suite. 1999 MBI is now the largest producer and distributor of Arabic repertoire in the Middle East and is in constant search for distributors or licensees for world market outside the Middle East. 2000 MUSICBOX INTERNATIONAL enters the new millennium. The key world here is......expansion. It is for this reason that head office is moving to a huge premise housing under one roof, the management office and the warehouse. the studio has now expanded from a state of the art audio and video mastering suite to a much larger studio having voice of facility, and separate video replicating and live digital audio recording unit respectively. Work include MBI repertoire(audio and video) and outside jobs. MBI also expands it horizon in its retail section by including another four shops totaling to ten outlets in the UAE making MBI the largest retail audio and video enterprise in the region.
